Exploring Magnetism

Here's a posting of some of the ways to see what the local magnetic field is doing. For some really cool magnets and materials to design your own experiments check out:

This magnet is floating in a field created by the device shown below. By measuring It's movement, changes in the local magnetic field can be observed.

This device was purchased from K&J Magnetics. Other than making a pretty cool desktop ornament, it demonstrates some very interesting properties of magnets and different magnetically affected materials.
